Ground-Breaking Aussie Series Launches Second Season

12 November 2007

Forget The Rules is a cross-media comedy/drama series focusing on the complicated lives of three sassy twenty-something characters grappling with their love, life and work dramas.

About to embark on its second season and featuring the writing of TV presenter and personality Tim Ferguson, this entertainingly sexy Australian drama has all the promise and character of The Secret Life of Us fused with Sex and the City. Creator and producer Jim Shomos says that the series, which won awards locally and internationally (including MIPCOM Cannes 2006), taps into the explosion of viewing video online and on mobiles.

"There is no such thing as new media. There is heritage television. People just want to watch stuff on stuff when they can be stuffed" said Mr Shomos, a former storyliner for Neighbours.

Forget The Rules recently signed Optus as its major sponsor. The series, will be distributed across Optus TV (Ovation Channel weekdays at noon, The Music Factory weekdays at 9:30pm) and Optus Zoo (mobile) as well as online channels.

Michael Smith, Group Marketing Director, Optus Consumer said, "Optus is happy to support successful and engaging local content.

"Forget The Rules is fresh and original and Optus is proud to make it available to its customers," Mr Smith said.

The production is also supported by Film Victoria through the Digital Media Fund. Amelia King, Manager, says "Forget the Rules has been such a great success and we are delighted to be a partner."

The second series features a talented and experience cast including Louise Crawford of City Homicide and Neighbours fame and guest appearances by Tara Rushton from the cult UK online serial KateModern.
